A complete version of JAWS for DOS is available as freeware and may be obtained from the Henter-Joyce web site. The download link is at the bottom of their page. Their page contains information on downloading and installing JAWS for DOS.
We have configuration files specially designed for JAWS for DOS to use with the TRIANGLE program. The configuration files are included in the TRIANGLE download and are located in the JAWS subdirectory.
If you would like the latest version of the configuration files without downloading another copy of TRIANGLE, you may download the configuration files here. The JAWSACF.EXE program contains the latest five JAWS configuration files: TA.JDF, TA.JEF, TA.JFF, TA.JMF, and TAJVF. It is a self extracting archive that can be executed in either DOS or Windows. A description on how to used this archive is described following information on installaing the configuration files.
You should install the JAWS screen reader before installing JAWS configuration files for TRIANGLE.
There are five files (TA.JDF, TA.JEF, TA.JFF, TA.JMF, TA.JVF) that are included in the latest TRIANGLE download package. These files are located in the JAWS subdirectory and should be copied to your JAWS for DOS directory. To do this (assuming that TRIANGLE is located in the directory C:\TRIANGLE, and JAWS for DOS is located in C:\JAWS) at the DOS prompt, use the command:
MOVE C:\TRIANGLE\JAWS\TA.* C:\JAWS\*.*
If you are using Windows, move the five files from the TRIANGLE's speech folder to the JAWS for DOS folder.
We recommend use of three JAWS load options when TRIANGLE is to be run.
The load options are:
/B8 /D8 /e
and are located at the end of the line that loads the synthesizer driver,
as discussed in more detail on the
page describing Setting-up TRIANGLE for use with speech screen readers and
voice synthesizers. The first two options
are essential to
provide enough memory for the Jaws dictionary and macro files. The /e
option tells JAWS that the keyboard is an extended desktop keyboard, but
this command should also be used for laptops, since TRIANGLE's macro set
for Jaws is designed to work equally well for laptop or desktop keyboards.
If you have just downloaded the JAWSACF.EXE file, you can extract the configuration files by simply running the program. If this program is first copied to the JAWS directory, you will not have to then copy the separate configuration files to that directory.
If you are using DOS:
If you are Using Windows95 or Windows98
