GS Shape Symbols
The shapes of shape blocks are intended to reveal their meaning to
the reader. All GS6 shape symbols begin with a dot-5 marker that is
not part of the shape. The remainder of the symbol consists of one or
more prefixes followed by a root cell. The first prefix after the
dot-5 must include a dot-6.
The GS8 symbol corresponding to a GS6 shape symbol is the part of the
GS6 symbol after the dot-5 but dropped an additional row. Thus all
GS8 symbols begin with a prefix that includes a dot-8.
In the following
tables, the GS8 shape block is given first and the GS6 block is given next, each in square brackets.
